This type of situation also leads to a decrease in immunity and the risk of other deadly diseases. This type of problem is more common in older people. Pre-operative and post-operative problems can also arise during dentistry.
There are many other issues for dental diseases and treatment than healthy teeth for any patient, including doctor and patient time, doctor's medical skills, and financial burden. For minor and severe dental ailments and diseases, not only treatment should be emphasized but also all the factors that may be the cause should be observed so that maximum awareness about oral health care is possible. At the same time, in the future, not only such diseases but also a comprehensive strategy to prevent these problems as much as possible at a comprehensive level.
The relationship between oral hygiene and teeth is a complex one. There are many diseases that can affect the teeth, but the most common are dental caries and periodontitis. . Tooth decay or (dental caries): Some of the bacteria that damage teeth cause acid in the mouth which later damages the structure of the teeth. This can cause small holes or cavities in the teeth. If left untreated, it can cause pain, infection, and even tooth extraction.
Periodontitis: Also known as gum disease, it is a severe gum infection that damages soft tissues and, without treatment, can destroy the bone that balances the structure of your teeth. Periodontitis can cause tooth decay or extraction. Although periodontitis is a common dental disease, timely treatment is essential
There are also various factors that affect the severity of dental diseases and even their removal. These include cultural beliefs, social values, access to specialist dentists, and dental surgical procedures. At the same time, living in yogurt or urban area can be a big reason. And geographically, there may be different figures or gaps between the two different regions.
In the semi-rural areas of Pakistan, there have been very few reports in this regard. Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also falls in these areas. Keeping this need in mind, a study was conducted at a hospital in Nowshera District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to examine the specific causes of permanent and chronic tooth loss and tooth extraction, which led to the development of various dental specimens. Observing included. The purpose of this study is not only to strengthen this program and prevent dental diseases but also to understand the nature of different dental diseases and to assess the different regional effects on them. The information thus gathered can go a long way in helping dental health policymakers
Materials and procedures: The present study was conducted at a pre-established dental center in the Nowshera district, Khairabad area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The teeth were extracted for some reason during this period. These records were taken from HMIS's designed proforma. In this study, age, gender, the nature of the dental problem, and the cause were taken into account. 1: Carries and its disadvantages 2: Pyrocoronitis 3: Injury 4: Periodontal disease 5: Orthodontic 6: Failure of endodontic treatment 7: Others such as artificial teeth replacement etc.
Result: As a result of this study, seven different causes were discussed which were the main causes of chronic tooth loss and their extraction.
A total of 2296 permanent teeth were extracted during this period. Of these, 1097 or 47.78% were extracted due to tooth caries and their various damages. 660 ie 28.75% were evacuated due to periodontal disease. 230 (10.02%) were removed due to failure of root canal treatment. 185 ie 8.06% were removed for pericoronitis, 111 (4.84%) for injury, and 13 (0.57%) for dentures.
Discussion: Most teeth are extracted in dental clinics. Tooth loss can greatly affect the quality of life and can provide a way for anyone from dental hygiene to dental care. The study also looked at the causes and patterns of tooth extraction. Of these, 47.78% were extracted due to tooth caries and their damages. Then come the remaining factors. There have already been studying reports in various parts of the world in which caries is one of the most common causes of tooth extraction. And second is periodontitis which is 28.74% of the total number of patients.
And it was mostly seen in patients who were in their second decade of age. However, this finding is inconsistent with some international findings that show that periodontitis is more common in people between the ages of 55 and 65. This may be due to poor dental hygiene or an unbalanced diet. Root canal failure may be the root cause if the minor causes of evacuation are examined. There are many reasons for this failure. These include the lack of qualified dental surgeons and the illegal practice of gifted doctors. As far as the causes of the injury are concerned, it damages the tooth structure or Dento-alveolar trauma to the alveolar bone, making tooth extraction inevitable.
The final result of the study: The study concluded that caries and periodontitis are the most common causes of tooth extraction in the Nowshera District and are common in most women.
Recommendations: The data obtained as a result of the study indirectly provide information about the oral health of this population. There is very little data in this regard in Pakistan but it can also be a kind of marker for oral health in Pakistan. And the existing data can only be used to formulate policies for public oral health. At the same time, data on the causes of tooth loss provide information on the wrong oral style.
